Safeguarding on site: what to expect from contractors at your school

What schools and nurseries should expect from contractors working on site, from enhanced DBS checks to planning around pupils.

When contractors work on a school or nursery site, safeguarding comes first. Before any work begins, you should be confident about who will be on site and how the work will be managed around children.

Background checks

Every member of our team is fully background checked, including enhanced DBS. Ask any contractor to confirm the checks their team holds before they arrive on site.

Planning around pupils

Good contractors plan work to keep children and staff safe. That can mean working during holidays, fencing off the work area, agreeing safe routes for deliveries and keeping noisy work away from lessons.

Clear communication

You should know who is on site, when, and who to contact. A single point of contact makes it easy to raise questions or change plans.

Experience with schools

We work with multiple academies, multi-academy trusts and local councils, and we understand the safeguarding standards schools expect. As one school told us, it is never easy working around the school day, but the team was extremely accommodating to their needs.

Leaving the site tidy

At the end of each day, and at handover, the site should be safe, secure and tidy, ready for children to use.

Every project starts with a free consultation.
